Lagging Behind!!

Well, I have been really lagging behind. Between working, trying to keep the house, and tending the kids it's really amazing I find time for art at all. This week though, I really have to start my big project. I really want to do the large version of the " I Take Thee" picture for the Mid-Western Color Pencil Exhibit. I pretty much only have a month to do it, so let's keep our fingers crossed it comes out the way I would like it too.

5/6/08

I am promising myself today, that I will try to have another update on my " I Take Thee" picture I am currently working on. I would really like to finish it soon, so that I can start my bigger version of the picture. With working night, kids during the day and housework, its kind of hard trying to fit time in between. Feel free to look back for upcoming updates....

I Take Thee-Update

Well, here is my next update. All I did was finish the two fingers on the grooms hand and touch up area's on the brides hand and arm area. I am really liking how this is turning out so far, but it is definately a picture I will redo. There are just too many area's that I am not happy with, but they are not that bad. Hopefully, I can get it done fairly soon to restart. i plan on doing the next one a lot larger.

Tired...

I don't know about anyone else, but my day usually starts out hectic. I get up everyday usually at the same time to get the kidlets ready for school. Usually, its a fight to get them up and out the door. Not forgetting what goes on in between!! I typically have late nights. When the kiddies are at school, its my youngest who is 3, housework, online catch-up, and then if I am up to it my artwork. I used to stay up at night and do my artwork then, but I decided to take on a side job, which generally keeps me up late and out of the house. If I get home early enough and before midnight then I may either work on my art or go online to check my sites, or just talk to friends. There just isn't enough time in one day.....

The Start of Something New..." I Take Thee"

Since I am new to blogging, I decided to make my first post with my newest picture I started. I am calling it, " I Take Thee". I am working with a refence photo from my friend Jenny's wedding album and drawing a georgous picture of her and her husbands hands, gently laying over her wedding bouquet. When I first saw this picture I was instantly in love with it and knew I wanted to create it and bring it to life in a drawing-painting, whichever one prefers to call a colored pencil picture. I have decided to do this posting as a work in progress showing my steps in this particular work.

Here we have my first scan, I enhanced the scan with my kodak easyshare program to darken the picture for better viewing. It is still not the best with the enhancements, but until the picture is finished, it does give a basic idea of where I am going with it.

Here we have my second scan, it was also enhanced with the kodak program, though it does have a lighter tint than the first one. ( One of the many reasons why I hate scanners and computer enhancement programs, you can never get the darned thing right..)

Here we have the third scan. I pretty much figured that the hands were going to be the hardest part of this picture so I wanted to start with them and get them out of the way. So basically, two more fingers and then it should be a piece of cake. I love doing flowers and they come naturally to me. As for the picture itself, since I already started it, its my practice piece. Since, it is my friend Jenny's picture I am going to give this one to her and then redo the picture much larger. This one is being done in a 9 by 12 Stonehenge Drawing Pad. I tend to stick with either 9 by 12 paper, or venture a little bigger with a 11 by 14 paper. So, I am going to go brave and try a sheet of Stonehenge 23 by 31 or something along those lines, but downsize it a bit to 16 by 20 or 20 by 24.
